Fall 2013

A Little About Me

Hello and welcome! I'm Suzanne and I am currently a sophomore at Iowa State University. I am majoring in Elementary Education with endorsements in art. math, and reading. I am originally from Bettendorf, Iowa, and graduated from Bettendorf High School in 2012. Since coming to Iowa State, I have been involved in Cyclone Martial Arts Club where I participate in Taekwondo. I am currently the fundraising chair for the Taekwondo branch of the club's cabinet, am on the Collegiate Nationals team, and am a TA for some of the beginner's classes. I love to help others learn, and enjoy seeing their satisfaction when they successfully accomplish a goal. Though I am thoroughly enjoying my experience at Iowa State, I cannot wait to begin teaching!

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that a classroom should be a place where students come to enjoy learning, do their best, are shown respect, and are respectful to others. In my classroom, I plan to use interactive and creative methods to teach my students in order for them to learn while still enjoying themselves, which I believe is an important part of the learning process. This does not mean games and fooling around, but activities that are truly educational and based on the material, but presented in a fashion which sparks the interest of my students. One of the goals in my room will be to do the best you can every day. I fully believe that respect has to be given to be gained, and I believe my students should not only respect me, and I respect them, but they should also respect each other. I believe all these things will create an inviting learning atmosphere where my students can work to achieve whatever goals they aim for.
